Here's a look at what we are learning in First Grade Reading/Language Arts this week:
Spelling-
Pattern (long I)- find, kind, mind, wind, behind, grind, mild, child, wild, blind
High Frequency Words- would, which, don't, does

*I apologize for not getting the spelling lists home on Friday. They were printed and sitting on my table! Sometimes the crazy days just get away from me. They will come home today.
Reading- Reading and writing poetry
Language- using prefixes to understand words- "un"
Writing- Persuasive Writing- spelling strategies, using writing to spread the word, writing letters that reach readers
*Writing samples will be coming home in Thursday papers but will NOT be graded, since "persuasive" writing is not actually part of our standards. We are doing this as an extension to opinion writing.
