Good morning!
Here is what we will be learning about in first grade reading/language arts this week:
Spelling-
"ed" endings and their different pronunciations-
jumped, pinched, kicked, melted, landed, chanted, smelled, curled, called, spelled
kidsspell.com/spelling-lists/different-sounds-of-ed/
High frequency words-
live, fly, how, ask
kidsspell.com/spelling-lists/week-20-high-frequency-words/
Language Arts- irregular verbs- these are verbs that don't use "ed" when put in the past tense. For example, the past tense of the verb "teach" is "taught". I don't expect students to know every single irregular verb, but we will be working with these all week to familiarize ourselves with different examples of irregular verbs.

Reading- Distinguishing fact verses opinion

*I will be conducting reading assessments for the entire class this week, so you will see more independent work than usual coming home.
Writing- Informational Writing
This week will focus on coming up with ideas on how to create informational writings ("how to books") and organizing ideas in a way that makes sense.
Have a wonderful week!
